What to Expect

First, before the actual photography session we like to spend some time with you and, if possible, all those who would be part of the photo session. We like to get to know all of our clients a little bit as this helps everyone to be more relaxed at the photo shoot. We like to do this several days or a week ahead of the planned photography session. This gives us an opportunity to explain what to expect from us and how we can work together to make your portraits something to be treasured for years to come. We will discuss things from what to wear, to the session location to the type of portraits you are looking for. Packages and prices will be discussed at this time also.

With respect to the photography session location it is really up to you, but should be where everyone can be relaxed and enjoy the time together. We can give you some suggestions of locations we have used in the past. An outdoor setting is recommended to help give a relaxed and casual atmosphere.

What to Wear

Solid coloured clothing in cool or neutral (black, white, grey) shades always looks good, as they will emphasize the face. Khakis and denim bottoms are also always appropriate for casual photos.
When being photographed as a family or group, try to dress as complimentary to one another as possible. For example, everyone should be dressed formally or informally, in similar shades or colours that complement one another.

Avoid loud colours, bold patterns, logos, and cartoons. Long sleeves and v-necks provide the most flattering portraits.

The Shoot

On the day of the photography session we want to focus on you and create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Relax and try to ensure all distractions can be avoided during the session. Again, we want the photography session to be as memorable as the portraits that result from the session.

Your photo session will not be rushed. We will take anywhere from one to three hours to achieve a good balance of relaxed, traditional, and candid shots. We want you to be very happy with your portraits.

Proofs

After the photo session each photo is digitally processed, checked and enhanced, as required, to improve the clarity of our subjects. From this we produce a set of proofs which we upload to our website (in a password protected gallery so only you have access to them, and anyone you give the password to). This takes about two weeks to complete after the photography session. We also will up load your photos to a digital picture frame for viewing in your home to help you decide on your picture selections.

You can then decide which photographs you would like to have made into prints. After you have reviewed the proofs for about a week, we like to meet with you again and go over the photographs you have selected. This gives us an opportunity to ensure we know what you would like and to help answer any questions you may have.

Portraits can be in color, black and white or sepia. We also can crop the photo, remove blemishes or other unwanted items, and add a vignette and a number of other photo enhancements. Any ideas you have on how you want your pictures to look are welcome.

The Investment

When we have completed the order form for the portraits you would like printed, we then go back and digitally process these selected original photos again. We now adjust the photos for exposure, shadows, brightness and contrast. We complete some detailed editing on the photo and any special requests to ensure that the print highlights the photo subject and meets your requests.

Depending on the size of your order and the prints you have selected, we typically have this completed within a two to three week period and deliver them to you.
